Somalia Signs Historic Blue Economy Partnership Agreement

The Federal Government of Somalia has signed a groundbreaking partnership agreement with international organizations to develop the country's blue economy potential. This historic agreement marks a significant milestone in Somalia's journey towards sustainable marine resource management and economic development.

The partnership, valued at over $150 million, will focus on several key areas including sustainable fisheries management, marine conservation, coastal infrastructure development, and capacity building for local communities. The agreement was signed during a ceremony attended by high-level officials from the Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy, international development partners, and representatives from the private sector.

Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy, Hon. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan, emphasized the importance of this partnership in transforming Somalia's marine sector. "This agreement represents a new chapter in our efforts to harness the vast potential of our marine resources while ensuring their sustainability for future generations," he stated.
